Day 13-14 Mt. Shasta, CA -> Astoria, OR -> Seattle, WA
As the adventure comes to the end, we traveled northward to Oregon on US-101 along the beautiful Northwest coastline. We stopped several viewpoints along the highway, and thankfully the weather was more than cooperating. We stopped by the Nelscott Beach to enjoy the sun, sand, and ocean.
And of course you can’t go to the Oregon coast without visiting the Tillamook Cheese Factory for some freshly made ice cream.
We stayed over at this homey bed and breakfast in Astoria, OR, called the Clementine’s Bed and Breakfast. Its resident cat is this beautiful Russian blue, and our host was chatty which was good because my mom is always very eager to have conversations with someone and practice her English. We spent the night playing Scrabbles after a very scrumptious meal at the local fine dining- Baked Alaska.
The next morning we took our host’s advice to set out to see the Astoria Column. The tradition is that you buy a light wood airplane from the gift shop and climb to the top of the Column and let the airplane fly down to the bottom. So that’s what we did!
We drove up the US-101 back to Seattle, WA. Thus concluded our journey from California to Washington!

Thanks so much for the details about your trip! The OR coast is on my list for next spring/summer. We did the olympic loop this year, but I am all for going back, its so pretty!
