Great Westcoast road trip of 2013- part 4

Day 11-13 San Francisco and Mt. Shasta

Moving along the the West coast north bound, we come to the city that ranked 44th in the top tourist destinations in the world- San Francisco also known as the City by the Bay. After a very scrumptious brunch with mom’s former co-worker and his wife in Sacremento, we checked in to the Hiltons on the beautiful ocean side. I know I’ve been here before when I was really young (got pictures to prove me wearing giant 80s pink glasses standing somewhere in the foreground of the Golden Gate Bridge with my cousin Theresa), but I honestly don’t have much recollection of it. We drove right by the Bay, it reminded me of the Piers in Seattle, only the sun shines a little brighter and the sea smells a little saltier. You can see the Alcatraz Island far off floating on the water in between the old wooden buildings on the Pier. We were recommended to take a boat tour around Alcatraz but since we were only staying one night and leaving very early the next morning for the long drive ahead, we didn’t get to do it. We did, however, took a drive to see the Golden Gate Bridge!
