Material
- Malabrigo Yarns Sock in 416 Indiecita

Pattern
Work friend Stariel who also designs her own patterns gave me this pattern- Double Vanilla, when she heard about me wanting to try my hand at socks. I believe this pattern will become available for sale later on Ravelry.
My first pair of socks! They were made from top down and using short row heels then graft to close. (If you don’t knit socks, the last sentence should be gibberish) Look at the PRETTY COLORS~~~! The blues, purples, and the greens. Not my first time knitting short rows, but I was still having problem closing the heel to the foot without leaving a rather big hole. Overall, I am totally in love with knitting socks! After this basic stockinette pattern, next, we shall try something with intricate patterns!

So the following few pictures are from the same yarn, but made from toe up and using a hybrid heel. I had more yarns at the end of making the top down socks, and I wanted to see how I’d like knitting from the toe up instead, so I made this one. Unfortunately, I didn’t calculate my yardage very well, because I am left with not enough yarn to make this toe up sock a friend. :( Boo. So this is a lonely single sock.
Half of the heels stitches are slip stitches so it creates an elastic band that is super comfortable to wear! And just look at how pretty it is. The distance from the heel to the top of the foot is larger in this design. This toe up method is apparently very good for people who have feet that doesn’t quite fit traditional socks. The shape is odd when it is not being worn, but it fits just like a regular sock.

ps. I think “platypus” when I look at the featured photo of me wearing the socks! LOL.
