Ri and I started going to a new church call New Community Church ever since we bought our house in Maple Valley. We thought, might as well get plugged in since that’s where we will be spending the years in the foreseeable future. One of the things we pray for is to find a good compatible small group to be a part of, and that we found! It is a Young Married small group but the couples are all in different stages of life. Some (like us) don’t have kids yet, some are pregos, some are on their 5th child, and all different various ages in between. We meet every other week or so and discuss about our walks with Christ and our walks with our spouse, led most of the time by one of the pastors at our church. We’ve built relationships through book study (What did you expect? by Paul Tripp), baby showers, BBQs, and yes, some of us even started a knitting group. (Teeheehee) And it is in the knitting group, we’ve come to know Stevi and Kendrick who are awesome people and are expecting a baby. Actually, as of writing this entry, the baby girl is now approximately 1 day old. It was also Stevi who started the knitting group, as a master knitter/crocheter herself, she has been kind enough to open up her place for us to gather and even taught some other girls from the small group how to knit and crochet!

Upon receiving permission to make some yarn magic for the littlest addition to their family, I hopped to my LYS and picked out this baby pink color for a cardigan/jacket. I chose to use a different weight of yarn for this project than what the pattern calls for, so there’s lots of guessing and estimating in this project. I knit until the measurement of each of the sections becomes what the graphs indicate and rely less on the number of stitches like I normally would. Unlike my previous attempt at making a cardigan for baby Ellie, each section of this jacket is knitted separately then sewn together using a tapestry needle. The pattern calls for at most 168 yards of bulky yarns, so I thought since I’m replacing it with worsted, I should have plenty of yarns to finish and then some. NOT! I ran out of yarn… That’s so embarrassing to say, but it happened. So I do apologize the jacket didn’t get its ears like it was suppose to get. I hope baby Livi won’t mind. :P

Congratulations to Stevi and Kendrick who are, at this moment, basking in their beautiful baby girl’s affection and love, and are probably smitten by Livi. May our Lord bless you in all aspects of parenthood (I heard sleep in a big one) and getting use to taking care of a little one! Much love!
