Material
- Knitted Wit and Sincere Sheep, this is the first time Yarnbox included 2 separate dyers in the same box, and they are both from Portand, OR.
- 1 skein of Polwarth Shimmer in Black Forest from Knitted Wit (dark blue and the main color in this project)
- 1 skein of Luminous in Aegean from Sincere Sheep (light pale baby blue and the contrasting colors in this project)
- Both skeins have the same composition and weight at 85% polwarth wool and 15% tussah silk. They are each 330 yards, so I have a total of 660 yards!
- US 7 (4.5mm) 29” or longer circular knitting needles
Pattern
Yarnbox included pattern of Pinstripe Shawl published by Kira K Designs
This project was relatively super easy and quick, it alternates in colors every few rows, but it’s basically just garter stitch with the occasional increase at the beginning and the end of the row. It is worked as a flat piece and kind of look like a trapezoid. One variation I made from this pattern was the edging. I am not a big fan of picking stitches with the knitting needles, so I decided to crochet the edging instead. I think it gives it a little different look and without the picot it calls for in the original design.
Now, one of the major things I would like to mention in this pattern is that this is the first project I officially block. A few of my previous projects were blocked on a makeshift board that I have, and this is the first one I blocked on my blocking mat and using wires and t-pins and all that. I gotta say, I never thought blocking would make such a difference! The edges stay down and flat and the whole piece just doesn’t curl, which makes me happy. :)
Last thing, to my hubby Riri, I know all these obsession with yarns is just crazy talk to you, but thank you so much for indulging me with all the attention and equipment that I whine about not having. That and occasionally rescue Belka who is almost always tangled in the yarns I left out in the living room. <3 Kiki thanks you for getting her an expensive blocking mats as butt warmers, too. :p Ohh and of course also taking pictures of me in my projects!
