June 2014 Yarnbox

Material

  • Artyarns (Yarnbox has recently opened another subscription category called Yarnbox Plus Artyarns and it looks SO TEMPTING!)
  • 1 skein in color H13  and 1 skein in 1029 (this combination is called Jungle Brights) PLUS 1 mini skein of Beaded Silk Sequins Light in color 247 Silver (They should really use something other than numbers to mark the colorways, it’s sort of confusing)
  • 208 yard of 100% Superwash Merino worsted weight per skein + 40 yards of the mini Beaded Silk Sequins– total of 456 yards! I had enough yarns to make 2 of these Garden Shawls, so with the exception of the silver Beaded Silk Sequins, I only use half of each skeins.
  • One pair size 7 (4.5mm) needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

Every month, along with sending the yarns as a surprise, Yarnbox also include 1 pattern for knitting and 1 pattern for crochet. It used to be just a random pattern that may or may not be suited for the yarns sent to you, but this year, they are including patterns that were specifically designed with the yarns they are sending out to the subscribers. The pattern I used for this month’s yarns is one of such patterns- Wavy Garden Shawl by Iris Schreier who is also the founder of Artyarns. This was a quick knit, and I liked it so much that I knitted another one with slightly different colors and gave it to my sister-in-law Karen for her birthday in July 2014.
